I read this Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller set in the dead of winter while it was snowing and very cold outside

 

In the dead of winter, an EMP attack destroys the U.S. power grid. No electricity. No cars or phones. The country is plunged into instant chaos. But for Hannah Sheridan, it's the best day of her life. For the last five years, she's been the captive of a sadistic psychopath--until the EMP releases the lock of her prison.

Unfortunately book 1 is only art 1 so you have to read the whole series and that is not even complete (but I have a Kindle Unlimited subscription). I also found it a bit on repeat later on. But alone on a farm with snow heaped all around me and some of my family just departed it was definitely a fitting read.
